Meet the Team

  • Ernest Compton, DVM
    VETERINARIAN

    Dr. Compton grew up in the suburbs north of Atlanta, and moved to Savannah in 1988 after graduating from the UGA College of Veterinary Medicine. He and his wife Shelly live on Dutch Island with their current group of four cats. In his spare time he enjoys training and competing in triathlons, snow skiing and scuba diving. He is also an active member of the Alee Shrine Dune Cat unit.

  • Melanie Bevere, DVM
    VETERINARIAN

    Dr. Bevere comes to us from Louisiana.  She attended Southeastern Louisiana University and obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology in 1996.

    She then went on to receive a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Louisiana State University in 2001 and has practiced in Savannah since graduating. She currently serves as President of the Greater Savannah Area Veterinary Medical Association.

    Dr. Bevere resides in Savannah with her husband, Gunner, and their 2 cats, Lucy and Schroeder, and 2 dogs, Betty and Truman.

  • Amy Lax
    OFFICE MANAGER

    Amy is a native of Savannah, GA though she lived in Atlanta, GA and Melbourne, FL for a few years before returning back to her hometown and family. She graduated from Kennesaw State University with a Bachelors of Business Administration with a focus in management. Amy is the Office Manager at Crossroad Animal Hospital and brings 15 years’ experience in management and customer service from a variety of industries. She lives with her wife (Christy), three cats and one dog.

    RVT
    VETERINARY TECHNICIAN

    Jessica is from Brooklet, GA and moved to Savannah in 2009 after completing her RVT from Ogeechee Tech College.  She is a whiskey connoisseur and enjoys traveling, outdoors, cooking, reading and the beach.  She has five fur children, Juno, Kace, Penny, Lil Bit and Theodore.

  • Nevada C.
    VETERINARY TECHNICIAN

    Nevada was born in Louisiana but spent most of her life in Charlotte, NC. Her husband's business relocated them here to Savannah in 2018.
     
    Nevada joined Veterinary Medicine in 2004 with interest in holistic approaches.  She has 3 Children, 1 Grandchild, 1 dog and 3 cats. Nevada likes to Run, Bicycle, and Hike and have an occasional glass of wine.

    VETERINARY TECHNICIAN

    Jessy has been working in the veterinary field since 2004.  She has been working as both receptionist and veterinary technician at Crossroad since 2010.  She has 3 cats and a daughter.

    VETERINARY TECHNICIAN

    Hi my name is Alexis. I am currently living in Fort Stewart with my husband and our 4 fur babies. Me and my husband are really into fishing and hunting, as well as going to rodeos. I have been a tech for a year and
    currently studying to become a veterinarian myself. I have always loved to be around animals and I can’t wait to meet yours!

  • Amanda H.
    RECEPTIONIST

    Amanda is a Beaufort, SC native who relocated a short drive to Savannah in 2019.

     
    She has been in the veterinary field since 2015. Amanda found her passion for veterinary medicine when her dog Daisy was diagnosed with Addison’s Disease.
    She is currently owned by 4 dogs; Shelby, Dax, Lola, Marsh and 1 cat; Felix.

     
    In Amanda’s spare time, she can be found riding motorcycles, playing softball at the ball field, traveling or laying by the ocean catching some sun rays.
