Meet the Team

  • Ernest Compton, DVM

    Dr. Compton grew up in the suburbs north of Atlanta, and moved to Savannah in 1988 after graduating from the UGA College of Veterinary Medicine. He and his wife Shelly live on Dutch Island with their current group of four cats. In his spare time he enjoys training and competing in triathlons, snow skiing and scuba diving. He is also an active member of the Alee Shrine Dune Cat unit.

  • Melanie Bevere, DVM

    Dr. Bevere comes to us from Louisiana.  She attended Southeastern Louisiana University and obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology in 1996.

    She then went on to receive a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Louisiana State University in 2001 and has practiced in Savannah since graduating. She currently serves as President of the Greater Savannah Area Veterinary Medical Association.

    Dr. Bevere resides in Savannah with her husband, Gunner, and their 2 cats, Lucy and Schroeder, and 2 dogs, Betty and Truman.

  • Amy Lax

    Amy is a native of Savannah, GA though she lived in Atlanta, GA and Melbourne, FL for a few years before returning back to her hometown and family. She graduated from Kennesaw State University with a Bachelors of Business Administration with a focus in management. Amy is the Office Manager at Crossroad Animal Hospital and Village Crossroad Animal Hospital.  She brings many years of experience in management and customer service from a variety of industries. She lives with her wife (Christy), two cats and one dog.

  • Jessica B.

    Jessica is from Brooklet, GA and moved to Savannah in 2009 after completing her RVT from Ogeechee Tech College.  She is a whiskey connoisseur and enjoys traveling, outdoors, cooking, reading and the beach.  She has five fur children, Juno, Kace, Penny, Lil Bit and Theodore.

  • Tim N.

    Born in Savannah, GA Tim has always had a passion for animals.  He has spent the last 3.5 years in veterinary medicine starting at the Humane Society as a Vet Assistant.  He now works at Village Crossroad as a Technician where he pours his care and passion into each patient.

  • Cindy M.

    Cindy is originally from Manalapan, NJ. She and her husband fell in love with Savannah while their daughter attended SCAD. They moved to the Landings in 2021 and could not be happier. Cindy’s husband Chuck is a retired Equine Veterinarian where Cindy was the office manager of their practice for over 20 years.
    Cindy was not quite ready to retire and is thrilled to have joined the Crossroad Animal Hospital Team at the Village.
    In her spare time, she enjoys walking their little chiweenie Remy, reading and spending time with family and their wonderful new friends. Although she is not very good at it, she also enjoys an occasional round of golf. You can often see Cindy downtown soaking up the beauty and rich history of Savannah.
